Color Determination (TS EN ISO 7887)

Color Determination (TS EN ISO 7887)

In the ISO 7887 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), four different test methods from A to D are offered for examining the color of water. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 7887 Water quality - Inspection and determination of water color.

Color Determination (TS EN ISO 7887)

The method previously used for the assessment of water color in water treatment plants, limnological and similar investigations was based on the hexachloroplatinate scale. Methods C and D presented in this standard are aligned with this conventional procedure. Limnology deals with the physical and chemical properties of natural and artificial lakes and ponds, their ecology, their interaction with the environment, and the water and energy flows in them.

Briefly, the methods presented in the ISO 7887 standard are:

  • Method A is based on visually observing the water sample and examining the apparent color.
  • Method B is based on determining the true color of the water sample using optical apparatus. This method is applicable to raw and potable water and low-colored industrial water.
  • Method C is based on determining the true color of a water sample, the hexachloroplatinate concentration at wavelength 410 nm, using optical apparatus.
  • Method D is based on determining the color of the water sample by visual comparison with hexachloroplatinate standard solutions. This method can be applied to raw and drinking water.

In the tests and analyzes carried out in our organization, which has a wide range of technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and applies the most modern methods, national and international standards and legal regulations in force are complied with. Color determination (TS EN ISO 7887) services are among the numerous tests carried out in this context.
