Biocidal products are products with active substances that are intended to destroy, deter, render harmless, inhibit their activities or otherwise exert a control effect on harmful or unwanted organisms.
The active ingredient in a biocidal product can be a natural oil, a chemical, a microorganism, virus or fungus. If the effect of a product is purely physical, then it is not considered a biocidal product.
The most common biocidal products include wood preservatives, antifouling paints, disinfectants, preservatives for aqueous products, fungicides or antimicrobial products, insecticides and animal repellents.
Biocides are added to many products. In general, they are used to maintain the quality of products. For example, the preservative in a water-based paint. In other words, this is not the product itself, but a protective biocidal product added to the product. However, a biocidal substance can also be added to a product to make the product itself a biocidal product. For example, a fungicidal dye is itself a biocidal product. A sufficient amount of active substance is added to the paint, and the paint itself becomes fungicidal.
The principles regarding the evaluation of risks related to human, animal and environmental health before being offered to consumers and their production, importation, packaging, labeling, classification and inspection are included in the Biocidal Products Regulation published by the Ministry of Health.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. Biocidal product testing services are among the numerous tests carried out in this context.
