EN 13034 Protective Clothing Against Liquid Chemicals - Performance Requirements for Chemical Protective Clothing Offering Limited Protective Performance Against Liquid Chemicals (Type 6 and Type PB [6] Equipment)

EN 13034, a European standard, describes minimum requirements for limited use and reusable limited performance chemical protective clothing. Limited performance chemical protective clothing is designed for use in potential exposure situations where a full liquid permeability barrier is not required to a light spray, liquid aerosols or low pressure, low volume splashes.

EN 13034 Protective Clothing Against Liquid Chemicals - Performance Requirements for Chemical Protective Clothing Offering Limited Protective Performance Against Liquid Chemicals (Type 6 and Type PB [6] Equipment)

This standard covers both chemical protective clothing (Type 6) and partial body protection (Type PB [6]).

Chemical protective clothing (Type 6) covers and protects at least the torso and limbs, such as one-piece overalls or two-piece suits with or without a hood, with boot socks or boot covers. This standard contains minimum requirements for connections between different parts of Type 468 garments using a reduced whole garment spray test using a variant of the EN 6 standard.

Partial body protection with similar limited performance (Type PB [6]) covers and protects only certain parts of the body, such as coats, aprons, sleeves and similar clothing. These garments should not be subjected to the whole suit test.

For the purposes of this standard,

  • Aaerosol suspension refers to liquid or solid and liquid particles in a gaseous medium with negligible falling velocity.
  • Chemical protective clothing material refers to any material or combination of materials used in a piece of protective clothing to isolate parts of the body from direct contact with a chemical.
  • Chemical protective clothing refers to clothing worn to protect against chemicals, covering at least the torso, arms and legs, and combining various additional protective equipment, for example a hood or helmet, boots and gloves. Several garments can be combined to provide the desired level of protection.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of EN 13034 standard, chemical protective clothing (type 6 and type PB) that offers limited protective performance against liquid chemicals. [6] also provides testing services for performance requirements for equipment.
