Developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the ASTM D92 standard includes a test method for determining the flash point and flash point of petroleum products with a manual Cleveland open cup apparatus or an automatic Cleveland open-cup apparatus.
The full name of this standard is: ASTM D92-12 Standard test method for flash and fire points with the Cleveland open cup tester.
Accuracies for the fire point have not been established in the current interlaboratory program. The fire point is a parameter that is not commonly specified, but in some cases it may be desirable to know this flammability temperature.
This test method is applicable to all petroleum products with flash points above 79 degrees and below 400 degrees, excluding fuel oils. This test method is sometimes used to determine the flash point of a fuel oil. However, the ASTM D93 standard should be used to determine the flash points of fuels. The ASTM D93 test method is also used to identify small concentrations of low flash point substances that escape detection by the ASTM D92 test method.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Flash point determination (ASTM D92) services are among the numerous tests performed in this context.
