ANSI/IES TM-28-20 Technical Memorandum: Projecting Long-Term Luminous Flux Maintenance of LED Lamps and Luminaires

The results obtained when testing in accordance with ANSI/IES TM-28-20 standard, ANSI/IES LM-84-20 and ANSI/IES LM-80-20 standards developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Lighting Engineering Society (IES). Methods for designing long-term luminous flux maintenance of LED lamps and luminaires using data are presented.

ANSI/IES TM-28-20 Technical Memorandum: Projecting Long-Term Luminous Flux Maintenance of LED Lamps and Luminaires

The ANSI/IES LM-84-20 standard (Certified method: Measuring luminous flux and color maintenance of LED lamps, light engines and luminaires) provides a method for measuring luminous, radiant, or photon flux, as well as chromaticity and other spectral properties over time. This method applies to LED lamps, LED light engines, LED luminaires, OLED light engines and OLED luminaires. This method includes the procedures and precautions to be followed in both the initial determination and reproduction of the results to determine the luminous, radian or photon flux as standard, and the spectral power distribution and chromaticity under standard operating conditions.

The ANSI/IES LM-80-20 standard (Approved method: measuring luminous flux and color maintenance of LED packages, arrays and modules) is the luminous (or radian or photon) flux maintenance and chromaticity maintenance of LEDs when operated under controlled environmental and operational conditions. or the procedures by which it is tested for wavelength changes. The measurements obtained are used for comparison of LEDs and in models that reflect long-term changes in light output over the life of the LEDs.

The purpose of the ANSI/IES TM-28-20 standard is to help manufacturers and users, standards development organizations and other organizations avoid the unnecessary burdens associated with excessive product testing. In preparing this standard, a balance has been struck between both testing time and effort and adequate statistical precision. As a result, a direct and combined method for luminous flux conservation projection is proposed. The latter allows the use of luminous flux maintenance data obtained for both the lamp or luminaire under test and the LED sources used in it.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, is involved in the project of long-term luminous flux maintenance of LED lamps and fixtures within the scope of ANSI/IES TM-28-20 standard.
