EN 1765 Rubber Hose Sets for Oil Suction and Discharge Services - Characteristics of the Groups

The EN 1765 standard, a European standard, describes the characteristics of four types of oil suction and discharge hose assemblies used for the transport of oil, including crude oils and other liquid petroleum products with a maximum 50 percent (v/v) aromatic content. This standard is not suitable for liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas. Hose assemblies covered by this standard can be used in the temperature range of minus 20 degrees to 82 degrees Celsius. Specified hoses range from 50 to 500 nominal inside diameters and can be plain bore, coarse bore or armored rough bore. Hoses used with petroleum products with an aromatic content of more than 50 percent (v/v) are outside the scope of this document, but the requirements for such hoses are used as a basis at the request of the manufacturer.

For the purposes of this standard,

  • Electrically coupled hose assembly refers to a hose assembly that uses a metallic wire connector to create a low resistance electrical connection between the end connections.
  • Electrically interrupted hose assembly refers to a hose assembly comprising an electrical insulation between the end of the helical wire or wire cord reinforcement and one or both couplings.

Briefly, this standard defines minimum requirements for the performance of both straight and coarse-hole wire or textile-reinforced rubber hose assemblies for oil suction and discharge services. Hoses are commonly used for the transfer of crude oil and liquefied petroleum products other than liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas to tankers and bunker ships or for similar duties on shore.

Hose assemblies are rated and specified for service pressure equal to the factory test pressure, including a margin for excess pressure. To keep this specification in line with other documents, this factory test pressure is also defined as the maximum working pressure. It is the user's responsibility to determine the appropriate working pressure, which will depend on the user's operating conditions and the expected service life of the hose assembly.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services to determine the properties of rubber hose assemblies for oil suction and discharge services, within the scope of EN 1765 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. .
