EN 62612 Self Ballasted LED Lamps for General Lighting Services with Supply Voltage Greater than 50 Volts - Performance Requirements

In the EN 62612 standard, which is a European standard, the test methods required to demonstrate the compatibility of LED lamps with integrated tools for stable operation for household and similar general lighting purposes are explained and the performance requirements are specified together with their conditions. These lamps for general lighting are expected to have a rated power of up to 60 W, a rated voltage of more than 250 Volts up to 50 Volts alternating current, and a lamp cover as listed in the IEC 62560 standard.

EN 62612 Self Ballasted LED Lamps for General Lighting Services with Supply Voltage Greater than 50 Volts - Performance Requirements

Significant technical changes have been made in the last update of this standard. Namely,

  • The standard clearly states that real-life testing is not part of the testing regimen. Instead, a period of up to 6000 hours was chosen to evaluate the manufacturers' maintenance demands.
  • The technical specifications are adapted to the performance of the LED modules as much as possible. Examples are the family approach and the temperature measuring point.
  • Marking requirements have been shifted from product to packaging.
  • The number of lamps to be tested is not general, but test specific.
  • Initial requirements are given for adjusting the color of color-adjustable lamps and the luminous flux level of dimmable lamps.
  • The structure of the tests is clearly divided between requirement and relevance.
  • Statistical fit is divided into individual and average.
  • Light output requirements have been extended to luminous intensity distribution, peak intensity, beam angle, and efficacy.
  • Corrected use of the terms associated color temperature and chromaticity coordinates.
  • The number of tolerance categories has been reduced from 8 to 4 and is split between initial and retained values.
  • Color rendering is evaluated differently in the initial and preservation state.
  • Three lumen maintenance categories are given instead of five.
  • Strength tests have been completely re-established.
  • The validation clause is complete.
  • Information about armature design has been added.
  • The stabilization is more precise (Appendix A for the method of measuring lamp characteristics).

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, has determined the performance of self-ballasted LED lamps for general lighting services with a supply voltage greater than 62612 Volts, within the scope of EN 50 standard. It also provides testing services for the requirements.
