The IEC 60598-1 standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) describes the general requirements for luminaires with electric light sources for operation at supply voltages up to 1000 Volts. The requirements and related test methods described in this standard include: classification, marking, mechanical structure, electrical structure and photobiological safety.
The end of this standard The following major changes were made in the update:
The presentation of photometric data for luminaires is evaluated by the International Commission on Illumination and is therefore not included in this standard.
This standard contains requirements for luminaires containing igniters with rated peaks of voltage impulse not exceeding those in the given table. The requirements apply to luminaires with igniters built into the ballasts and to luminaires with igniters separate from the ballasts. Consideration is given to the requirements for luminaires with igniters built into the lamps.
The requirements for semi-luminaries are contained in the IEC 60598-1 standard.
In general, this standard covers the safety requirements for luminaires. The purpose of this standard is to provide a set of requirements and test methods that are generally accepted as applicable to most types of luminaires. Therefore, this standard is not considered as a specification for any luminaire type and its provisions are valid only for certain luminaire types.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for the general requirements of luminaires, within the scope of the IEC 60598-1 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
