Some credit cards and passports are now enabled with an RFID chip (13.56 MHz) that stores information that can be retrieved by an RFID reader. The RFID enabled credit card or passport does not need to be swiped using traditional methods and can be read by the RFID reader from just a few centimeters away. In 2008, UHF RFID chips and passport cards operating in the 900 MHz range were issued and could be read a few steps away.

• The transmitter is used to successfully read the RFID enabled credit card independently.
• The credit card is placed in a wallet or case and read is attempted. Readings should fail if the wallet or case protects the credit card.
