EUROLABoffers a variety of tests with its expert team and state-of-the-art laboratories on the new hazard-based standard for IT / Audio-Visual and Communication Technologies Equipment.

The IEC / EN 62368-1 standard represents a new approach to Hazard Based Safety Engineering. It will replace existing standards, IEC / EN 60065 and IEC / EN 60950-1. As this transition progresses, manufacturers must keep abreast of developments in existing standards (60065 and 60950-1) and the new IEC / EN 62368-1.
Early adoption of the new standard is an advantage, as it enables manufacturers to reduce costs through R&D. As an early adopter, we can help you discover potential nonconformities with the new standard in product, component / subassemblies.
This may result in subassembly manufacturers being chosen as preferred sellers by buyers if their products conform to 60065-60950 in addition to 1 and 62368-1.
The official transition period in Europe ends 2020-12-20. On this date, the old standards of EN 60065 / EN 60950-1 will be withdrawn.
North America (Canada and the USA) will adopt the same program to initiate assessment and certification according to IEC 62368-1 2nd edition. Experience shows that some countries may apply standards earlier than others. It may be needed sooner than expected.
It is wise to consider 62368-1 when developing new products, even if the existing product is out of production as long as the new standard is mandatory. Future upgrades and development of the product are generally based on previous versions you develop today.
