MSHA Mineral Product Approvals Tests

EUROLABis an accredited NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) accepted as part of MSHA's Mining products Part 6 approval.

Local regulations require mining products designed for use in underground coal and gaseous underground mines to be approved to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) standards or to non-MSHA Product Safety Standards.

MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) Approval

MSHA will accept testing and evaluation by an independent laboratory for MSHA product approval purposes, provided they receive the following:

• Written evidence of the laboratory's independence and current recognition by the laboratory accreditation body
• Complete technical description of how the product complies with each requirement in current MSHA product approval requirements
• Identification of components or features critical to product safety
• All documents, including drawings and specifications, submitted by the applicant to the independent laboratory

Non-MSHA Standards

MSHA will adopt non-MSHA equivalent product safety standards assuming they provide the same degree of protection. With the changes, these standards are accepted:

• IEC 60079-0, Fourth Edition, 2004-01
• IEC 60079-1, Fifth Edition, 2003-11
