Tests for Small Electric Vehicles and Electric Bicycles

Tests for Small Electric Vehicles and Electric Bicycles

For a long time, it was expected that the gaps in modern mobility would one day be bridged by new products. During the last few kilometers between walking and traditional means of transport designed for long distances (buses, trains, planes, cars), there was a lack of appropriate mobility aids. New vehicle concepts such as electric scooters, S-pedelecs, unicycle, segways, etc. now offer products for amateur athletes focused on commuters and innovation. Their safety is standardized by national type approval models such as European test requirements and the new Small Electric Vehicle Regulation for German road traffic.

Tests for Small Electric Vehicles and Electric Bicycles

Safety testing of electric bicycles has been harmonized at European level. This means that the framework directive can be fulfilled in a more structured way. To ensure that such vehicles that increase our overall mobility do not get anywhere in terms of safety EUROLABoffers objective testing of these products using our expertise in machine safety and automotive testing.

EUROLAB It has become a notified technical service of the German Federal Transport Agency and offers comprehensive expertise. Whether it is a machine, bicycle, category L vehicle or small electric vehicle, it is simply a matter of choosing the right testing requirements. The common aim of the tests is to reduce technical safety deficiencies in vehicle engineering, so that the associated hazards for the user and the resulting liability risks for the manufacturer are minimised. Verification of compliance with these requirements is a milestone for a sustainable market image and the necessary associated homologation.
