The standard “EN IEC 62209 Measurement procedure for the assessment of specific absorption rate exposure to radio frequency fields from hand-held and body-mounted wireless communication devices”, which is based on a European standard and later published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), consists of a number of sub-parts published under the same title. Namely,

These protocols and test procedures provide a conservative estimate, with limited uncertainty, of the peak spatial specific absorption rate that will occur at the head for the substantial majority of people during normal use of these devices. The applicable frequency range is 300 MHz to 6 GHz.
For transmitters used in close proximity to the human ear, the procedures of IEC 62209-1 apply. This standard applies to radio frequency exposure in the frequency range 30 MHz to 6 GHz and can be used to measure simultaneous exposures from multiple radio sources used in close proximity to the human body.
Definitions and evaluation procedures are provided for the following general device type categories: body-mounted, body-supported, desktop, front-face-mounted, handheld, notebook, limb-mounted, multi-band, push-to-talk, clothing-integrated.
The types of devices considered include, but are not limited to, mobile telephones, wireless microphones, auxiliary broadcasting devices, and radio transmitters in personal computers.
This standard provides guidelines for a reproducible and conservative measurement methodology to determine compliance with specific absorption rate limits for wireless devices. A representation of a hand is not included if the device is intended to be used near the head or supported at or near the torso, as studies suggest that excluding features representing a hand in human models provides a conservative case scenario for SAR at the torso and head.
This standard does not apply to exposures from implanted medical devices, whether conducting or non-conducting. Furthermore, this standard does not apply to exposures from devices at distances greater than 200 mm from the human body. This standard cross-references IEC 62209-1, with all modifications noted, where full clauses or subclauses apply.
This standard specifies requirements for the assessment of peak spatial-average specific absorption rate using vector measurement-based systems. Such systems determine the peak spatial-average specific absorption rate by three-dimensional space reconstruction within the volume of interest in accordance with the requirements herein for the measurement system, calibration, uncertainty assessment, and verification methods. The protocols and procedures are applicable for peak spatial-average specific absorption rate assessments covering the majority of people, including children, during use of wireless communication devices operated in close proximity to the head or body.
This standard applies to wireless communications devices intended for use in close proximity to the human head or body, at distances up to and including 200 mm. This standard can be used to evaluate the specific absorption rate (SAR) compliance of different types of wireless communications devices, such as those mounted next to the ear, in front of the face, on the body, used in conjunction with other radio frequency transmitting or non-transmitting devices or accessories (e.g. belt clip), or embedded in clothing.
The generally applicable frequency range is between 600 MHz and 6 GHz. The system verification procedures provided in this standard cover frequencies between 600 MHz and 6 GHz. With a system based on vector measurement, this standard can be used to evaluate the specific absorption ratio compatibility of different types of wireless communication devices.
Categories of wireless communications devices covered include, but are not limited to, mobile telephones, wireless microphones, auxiliary broadcast devices, and radio transmitters in personal computers, desktop and notebook computers, multi-band, multi-antenna, and push-to-talk devices.
Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from every sector with its testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies carried out in a wide range for years, has a strong staff that closely follows the developments in the world in the field of science and technology and constantly improves itself. In this context, testing services are also provided to businesses in accordance with the standard “EN IEC 62209 Measurement procedure for the assessment of specific absorption rate of exposure to radio frequency fields originating from hand-held and body-mounted wireless communication devices”.
