Total Analysis of Dioxin and Dioxin-Like PCBs - Feed and Feed Additives

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is concerned about the total of dioxin-like compounds and is seeking ways to reduce dietary exposure to these ubiquitous environmental pollutants . To this end, it continuously monitors food and animal feed. Recently, a strategy for dioxin-like compound totals has been developed. The aim of this strategy is to support science in developing appropriate risk management actions.

The main objectives of the dioxin monitoring program are:

  • To obtain baseline data for summation levels of dioxin-like PCBs in food and animal feed ingredients susceptible to summation of dioxin-like compounds
  • Identifying sources of contamination that can be ignored or significantly reduced and estimating dietary exposure to dioxin-like PCBs and identifying ways to reduce them

Humans can be exposed to low concentrations of dioxin-like PCBs by breathing air, consuming food or drink, or through the skin, not just from feed and feed additives. However, the main way humans are exposed to these compounds is through the food supply.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also services for the analysis of the sum of dioxin and dioxin-like PCBs.
