IEC 62052-11 Electrical Measuring Equipment - General Requirements, Tests and Test Conditions - Part 11: Measuring Equipment

The IEC 62052-11 standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) describes the appropriate conditions, requirements and related test methods for type testing of alternating current and direct current electricity meters. This standard describes functional, mechanical, electrical and marking requirements, test methods and test conditions, including immunity to external influences covering electromagnetic and climatic environments.

IEC 62052-11 Electrical Measuring Equipment - General Requirements, Tests and Test Conditions - Part 11: Measuring Equipment

Essentially, the IEC 62052-11 standard applies to the following types of electrical measuring equipment:

  • Designed to measure and control electrical energy in electrical networks with a voltage of up to 1000 Volts alternating current or 1500 Volts direct current.
  • Designed to have all functional elements including additional modules, excluding display screens, or to form a single meter case.
  • Designed to work with integrated displays (electromechanical or static meters)
  • Designed to work with or without dedicated display screens (static meters only)
  • Designed to be installed in a specific matching outlet or rack
  • Optionally designed to provide additional functions other than those for measuring electrical energy.

This standard also applies to auxiliary input and output circuits, operating indicators and test outputs of equipment for electrical energy measurement. It also covers common aspects of accuracy testing such as reference conditions, repeatability, and uncertainty measurement.

However, the following electrical measurement equipment is not covered by this standard :

  • Meters where the line-neutral voltage obtained from the rated voltages exceeds 1000 Volts alternating current or 1500 Volts direct current
  • Meters intended for connection with low-power instrument transformers when tested without such transformers
  • Measurement systems consisting of more than one device physically distant from each other
  • Portable counters
  • Counters used in wagons, vehicles, ships and aircraft
  • Laboratory and meter testing equipment
  • Reference standard counters
  • Compatible sockets or racks used for the installation of electrical measuring equipment

Our organization also provides type testing services for alternating current and direct current electricity meters within the scope of IEC 62052-11 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
