In the ISO 3795 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), a test method is presented for determining the horizontal burning rate of materials used in the passenger compartment of vehicles after exposure to a small flame. This test method allows materials and parts of vehicle interior equipment to be tested individually or in combination up to 13 mm thick.

This international standard defines a test method for determining the horizontal burning rate of materials used in the passenger compartment of road vehicles, for example, passenger cars, trucks, vans and coaches, and tractors and machinery used in agricultural and forestry activities, when exposed to a small flame.
This method allows the testing of materials and parts of vehicle interior equipment individually or in combination up to 13 mm thick. It is used to determine the uniformity of production lots of such materials according to their combustion behavior.
There are many differences between the real-world situation and the exact test conditions specified in this standard, such as in-vehicle application and orientation, operating conditions, ignition source and so on. In this respect, this method is not considered suitable for the evaluation of all real interior combustion characteristics.
Essentially, flammability testing is used to determine the relative burning rate of self-supporting plastics. This test is generally used for quality control, production control, and material comparisons. Various flammability tests are similar in that they orient a test sample horizontally or vertically and place it in a test chamber. A flame from a Bunsen burner is applied to the sample for a specific period, and the time or distance the flame spreads is measured. In these tests, the time it takes for the flame to extinguish itself, the distance the burn spreads, and the linear burning rate in millimeters per minute are determined.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, aims at the combustion behavior of interior materials of road vehicles, tractors and machines used for agriculture and forestry activities within the scope of ISO 3795 standard. It also provides testing services.
