Traditional tests
Traditionally, almost all EMC tests are performed in an EMC laboratory under controlled conditions with standardized environmental conditions (ambient noise, temperature and humidity). Tests are usually carried out in isolated rooms and the test object can be configured and manipulated without the influence of the environments.
Walk test
On-site testing is normally performed on equipment and systems that are too large to fit in a lab, or if they have exceptional power supply or other connectivity requirements. Sometimes this makes it impossible to test anywhere other than the manufacturer's production facilities or final installation.
