MON88302 Canola Type Determination and Quantity Analysis

MON88302 Canola Type Determination and Quantity Analysis

The canola strain MON 88302 was developed by Monsanto by genetic modification using a gene derived from the common soil bacterium and using recombinant DNA techniques.

MON88302 Canola Type Determination and Quantity Analysis

Evaluation studies compared the composition and nutritional quality of canola strain MON88302 with unmodified cultivars and investigated its potential to be toxic or cause allergic reactions. As a result, data were obtained showing that MON88302 canola strain is as safe and has the same nutritional quality as conventional canola varieties used as food.

The new gene inserted into the traditional canola strain results in the expression of a new protein. Expression of this protein confers tolerance to glyphosate. This protein is originally from the bacterium agrobacterium, a common soil-borne bacterium. This protein is functionally identical to plant enzymes, including those naturally found in canola, except for its relatively low affinity for glyphosate.

MON88302 canola variety is expected to be used in applications similar to those obtained from conventional canola varieties. The only part of canola consumed by humans is refined, bleached, deodorized oil containing little to no protein. Therefore, expected human exposure to this protein would be very low.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, MON88302 canola type determination and quantity analysis services are also available.
