Developed by the Air Transport Association (ATA), the ATA SPEC 103 standard is a standard currently applied in the commercial aviation industry and provides guidance for the safe storage and distribution of jet fuel at airports. This standard also includes forms used to record the performance of tests and controls.

The purpose of this standard is to guide the user covering the safe storage and distribution of quality jet fuel at airports as it is applied today in the commercial aviation industry. Because airport refueling operations are so diverse, this standard is not intended to be all-encompassing. When controlling aviation refueling operations, technical knowledge along with competent judgment should always be considered and followed. In addition, operators must comply with all applicable rules, regulations, restrictions, regulations and relevant regulatory requirements for fuel storage and distribution.
Member airlines of the Air Transport Association of America (ATA) recognize the importance of using quality jet fuel to ensure the highest level of flight safety. For this, the ATA SPEC 103 standard has been developed by member airlines to cover fuel distribution facilities and fuel quality control procedures at airports serving airline operations.
This standard aims to minimize the delivery of contaminated or unacceptable jet fuel to airline aircraft at airport jet fuel storage and distribution facilities, and defines widely recognized control procedures and safety checks. However, depending on the complexity of the fuel system and local operating conditions, additional facilities and testing procedures are required at each airport. In this respect, alternative procedures and the use of non-standard facilities and equipment are possible.
The ATA SPEC 103 standard does not in itself impose any performance obligations on any airline, fuel supplier, fuel storage facility, fuel carrier or any other entity. This standard becomes effective only to the extent that it is adopted by an airline.
Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses, and evaluations our organization provides for businesses in various sectors, we also offer testing services for jet fuel quality control at airports under the ATA SPEC 103 standard, utilizing a trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
