EN 2792 Aviation Series - Rod Ends, Adjustable, Double Clevis and Threaded Shaft, Coupling - 1,5x Thread Diameter - Dimensions and Loads
The European standard “EN 2792 Aeronautical series - Bar ends, adjustable, double clevis and threaded shaft, coupling: 1,5x thread diameter - Dimensions and loads” describes the characteristics of adjustable bar ends, consisting of:

- Double fork
- A gear shaft containing:
- A circumferential groove to define the connection
- An optional longitudinal groove for locking purposes
These rod ends are designed for use with flight control rods or rods for aircraft structures. Cadmium plating limits application to temperatures not exceeding 235 degrees.
The required features described in this standard include:
- Dimensions, tolerances and mass configuration must be in accordance with the figure given in the standard. Also, dimensions, tolerances and mass values after cadmium plating are given in the table given in the standard.
- In terms of surface roughness, the values before cadmium plating are included in the table given in the standard.
- The steel material used must comply with the following European standards:
- EN 2137 Aeronautical series - Steel FE-PL75 - 1 100 MPa ≤ Rm ≤ 1 250 MPa - Bars - De ≤ 100 mm
- EN 2438 Aerospace series - Steel FE-PL2102 (35NiCr6) - 900 MPa ≤ Rm ≤ 1 100 MPa - Bars - De ≤ 40 mm
- Cadmium coating used in surface treatment is in accordance with the standard “EN 2133 Aerospace series - Cadmium coating of steels, copper, copper alloys and nickel alloys with a specified tensile strength ≤ 1 450 MPa”, excluding holes 7 µm to 20 µm, excluding threads 5 / Should be µm to 10 µm.
For technical specifications, the standard "EN 2601 Aeronautical series - Fork tips, adjustable - Technical specifications" applies. This standard specifies the required characteristics, inspection and test methods, qualification and acceptance conditions for single or double adjustable fork tips with threaded shafts used with flight control sticks. This standard is valid wherever it is applied.
The required features, inspection and test methods are described in this standard as follows:
- Materials: Must comply with product standards or design documents. Chemical analyses provided by the semi-finished product manufacturer are performed or a certificate of conformity is sought.
- Dimensions and tolerances: Must comply with product standards or design documents, and appropriate measuring instruments must be used in testing.
- Masses: Must comply with product standards or design documents and appropriate test methods must be used.
- Marking: Must comply with product standards or design documents, be legible and not adversely affect the material or function of the fork tip. Visual inspection must be carried out during testing.
- Surface appearance (excluding thread): There are no surface continuity standards. Appropriate inspection methods must be used. Additionally, seams and cracks must be searched for by dye penetration or magnetic processing according to EN 2002-16.
- Longitudinal and circumferential grooves: Must not alter tooth function. Visual inspection method and gear measuring device should be used in tests.
- Surface roughness: Must comply with product standards or design documents and appropriate measuring instruments or visual-tactile samples must be used.
- Surface treatment: Must be in accordance with product standards or design documents, and visual inspection must be carried out according to the surface treatment standard.
- Tooth cuts: The figures given in the standard should be observed. Qualification should be made on finished parts by examination of the micro graphic section and acceptance should be done by sampling during production.
- Tensile ultimate static load: There should be no failure in the ultimate static load given in the product standards or design documents. When testing, the fork tip is attached to a tensile device up to the circular safety groove. A basic load equal to 10 percent of the ultimate static load is applied. The load is gradually increased (10 MPa/s) up to the ultimate static load. Visual inspection is carried out at the end of the test.
Some inspections are performed where there is no surface treatment that can be removed by a chemical treatment for qualification purposes.
Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses and evaluations our organization has carried out for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services defined in the standard “EN 2792 Aviation series - Rod ends, adjustable, double fork and toothed shaft, coupling: 1,5x tooth diameter - Dimensions and loads” with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
