ETSI ETS 300 019-1 Equipment Engineering (EE) - Environmental Conditions and Environmental Tests for Telecommunications Equipment - Classification of Environmental Conditions

The ETSI ETS 300 019 standard, developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Committee (ETSI), which is one of the three institutions working in the field of standardization at European level, is about environmental conditions and environmental tests for telecommunications equipment and consists of two main sections, each of which has subsections:

ETSI ETS 300 019-1 Equipment Engineering (EE) - Environmental Conditions and Environmental Tests for Telecommunications Equipment - Classification of Environmental Conditions

  • ETSI ETS 300 019-1 Classification of environmental conditions
  • ETSI ETS 300 019-2 Characteristics of environmental tests

The first part of the ETSI ETS 300 019 standard, titled "Classification of environmental conditions", defines the recommended test severity and test methods for different environmental classes. The subsections of this section are as follows:

  • Chapter 1-0: Introduction
  • Chapter 1-1: Storage
  • Part 1-2: Transportation
  • Part 1-3: Fixed use in weather protected areas
  • Part 1-4: Fixed use in non-weather protected locations
  • Chapter 1-5: Ground vehicle installations
  • Chapter 1-6: Ship environments
  • Section 1-7: Portable and non-stationary use
  • Chapter 1-8: Fixed use in underground locations

The purpose of these standards is to define a class of environmental conditions to which equipment may be exposed and their severity. These standards only cover severe conditions that could be harmful to equipment. The stated measures are those with a low probability of exceeding (usually less than 1 percent). These standards apply to equipment installed for stationary use in weather and in non-weather protected locations.

In the application of this standard, the concept of environmental condition refers to a physical, chemical or biological condition to which an equipment is exposed at a given time. Environmental conditions generally consist of environmental conditions that occur in nature and environmental conditions created by the equipment itself or external sources. The concept of environmental factor, on the other hand, refers to a physical, chemical or biological effect that creates an environmental condition, such as heat or vibration, alone or in combination with other effects.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for the classification of environmental conditions for telecommunication equipment within the scope of ETSI ETS 300 019-1 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
