ETSI ETS 300 019-2 Equipment Engineering (EE) - Environmental Conditions and Environmental Tests for Telecommunications Equipment - Characteristics of Environmental Tests

The ETSI ETS 300 019 standard, developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Committee (ETSI), which is one of the three institutions working in the field of standardization at European level, is about environmental conditions and environmental tests for telecommunications equipment and consists of two main sections, each of which has subsections:

ETSI ETS 300 019-2 Equipment Engineering (EE) - Environmental Conditions and Environmental Tests for Telecommunications Equipment - Characteristics of Environmental Tests

  • ETSI ETS 300 019-1 Classification of environmental conditions
  • ETSI ETS 300 019-2 Characteristics of environmental tests

The second part of the ETSI ETS 300 019 standard, titled "Environmental testing characteristics", defines the recommended test severity and test methods for different environmental classes. The subsections of this section are as follows:

  • Chapter 2-0: Introduction
  • Chapter 2-1: Storage
  • Part 2-2: Transportation
  • Part 2-3: Fixed use in weather protected areas
  • Part 2-4: Fixed use in non-weather protected locations
  • Chapter 2-5: Ground vehicle installations
  • Chapter 2-6: Ship environments
  • Section 2-7: Portable and non-stationary use
  • Chapter 2-8: Fixed use in underground locations

The purpose of these standards is to specify test severity and methods for verifying the required resistance for equipment to be stored, transported and used in the environments described in chapter one. The purpose of environmental testing is to demonstrate that under defined environmental conditions, equipment can survive without irreversible failures and perform according to requirements. These tests are not reliability tests or lifetime tests.

The severity of the tests in this part is closely related to the characteristic intensities of the environmental classes in the first part of this standard. The conversion was made by considering the failure results, performance requirements and graded test severity in the test methods defined in the IEC 60068-2 standard.

Unless otherwise stated in these standards, medium failure results and normal performance requirements are taken as standard. In order to meet environmental resistance requirements, the test intensities and methods used are detailed in the second part. In most cases these conditions are different from those shown in chapter one and testing for some parameters is not recommended.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides environmental testing services for environmental conditions for telecommunication equipment within the scope of ETSI ETS 300 019 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
