IEC 60068-2-6 Environmental Tests - Part 2-6: Tests - Test Fc: Vibration (Sinusoidal)

IEC 60068-2-6 Environmental Tests - Part 2-6: Tests - Test Fc: Vibration (Sinusoidal)

The IEC 60068-2-6 standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) defines a standardized test method for determining the ability of components, equipment and other objects to withstand sinusoidal vibration of specified severity.

IEC 60068-2-6 Environmental Tests - Part 2-6: Tests - Test Fc: Vibration (Sinusoidal)

IEC 60068-2-6 vibration testing is a test method applied to components, equipment and other objects exposed to conditions involving vibration of the harmonic pattern during transportation or service. These vibrations result from rotating, vibrating or oscillating forces or machinery and seismic events, similar to those that occur in ships, aircraft, rotorcraft, land vehicles, and space applications. In this test method, the sample is exposed to sinusoidal vibration in a certain frequency range and for a certain period of time.

The purpose of this test method is to identify any mechanical weakness or deterioration in the stated performance of the equipment under test and to use this information together with the relevant specification to decide the acceptability of the samples. This vibration test requires that the equipment under test be in working order at the time of testing. During testing, equipment under test and vibration response data are monitored and analyzed to determine critical frequencies.

The IEC 60068-2-6 test method requires two basic endurance procedures: endurance by sweeping and endurance at fixed frequencies.

In some cases, this test method is also used to demonstrate the mechanical strength of samples or to examine their dynamic behavior. Classification of components is also made on the basis of a selection from the severity levels specified in the test procedure.

In the last update of this standard,

  • IEC 60068-2-47 standard referenced ( IEC 60068-2-47 Environmental testing - Part 2-47: Testing - Mounting of samples for vibration, impact and similar dynamic tests).
  • Regarding assembly, the standard layout has been simplified by replacing some tables with text.
  • Added requirements for test report.

Briefly, the IEC 60068-2-6 standard provides a test method to determine the ability of components and equipment to withstand a certain severity of sinusoidal vibration.

Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses, and evaluations our organization provides for businesses in various sectors, we also offer environmental testing services under the IEC 60068-2-6 standard, specifically test Fc: Vibration (Sinusoidal) testing, with our trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
