The TS 6231 standard, which presents a test method for the determination of nitrate ions in water using the 2,6-dimethylphenol spectrometric method, is based on the ISO 7890-1 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and is published under the title: TS 6231 Water quality - Nitrate determination - Part 1: 2,6-dimethylphenol spectrometric method.

The test method in question is applicable to the direct analysis of potable and raw water. Nitrate nitrogen concentrations of up to 25 mg/L can be determined in the test portion. A concentration of 0,06 mg/L can be detected.
The nitrate concentration in quality drinking water should not exceed 10 mg/L. The occurrence of blue disease in infants is due to the higher nitrate concentration. Therefore, the limit value commonly used as a drinking water standard is 45 mg/L.
The determination of nitrate and nitrate nitrogen requires complex procedures and is not easy to test because of interference from various components. Therefore, which test method to use depends on the nitrate concentration present in the sample and interference. Other test methods applied in the determination of nitrate and nitrate nitrogen are the ultraviolet spectrophotometric method applied for clean water and the phenol disulfonic acid method applied for both clean water and wastewater.
In the tests and analyzes carried out in our organization, which has a wide range of technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and applies the most modern methods, national and international standards and legal regulations in force are complied with. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, nitrate / nitrate nitrogen determination (TS 6231) services are also available.
