The SM 2540 B method, which includes a test method for the determination of total solids, has been developed within the scope of the National Environmental Methods Index (NEMI), which creates a database containing environmental methods, protocols, statistical and analytical methods and procedures and develops standard methods.

Solids refer to suspended or dissolved substances in potable, surface, and saline waters, as well as domestic and industrial wastewater. Solids negatively affect water or wastewater quality in various ways. Waters with high dissolved solids content are generally less palatable and can cause undesirable physiological reactions in consumers. Therefore, a dissolved solids limit of 500 mg/L has been introduced for drinking water. High mineral content waters are also considered unsuitable for many industrial applications. Waters with high suspended solids content may not be aesthetically pleasing for bathing and other purposes.
Performing total solids analyzes is important for controlling water and wastewater treatment processes and assessing compliance with legal requirements.
In the tests and analyzes carried out in our organization, which has a wide range of technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and applies the most modern methods, national and international standards and legal regulations in force are complied with. Total solids determination (SM 2540 B method) services are among the numerous tests performed in this context.
