Compound Scan Database

Compound Scan Database

A leading laboratory in providing removable and leaky services for the pharmaceutical industry EUROLABdeveloped the Proprietary Compound Screening Database to aid in the unique identification of more than 3000 extractable products in “first pass” extractable studies.

Compound Scan Database

Why Develop a Unique Compound Scan Database?

Historically, identification of compounds was mainly based on identification via commercially available MS-databases (NIST, WILEY).

  • The mass spectrum of extractables is not always available in this DB; they are not optimized for polymer impurities.
  • Good MS-fit does not always guarantee correct identification.
  • In some cases, a list of "X best hits" should be given: Which of the X is correct, how many hits per compound are evaluated?
  • Manual interpretation: labor intensive, time consuming: each peak needs to be evaluated separately.
  • MS-interpretation may be operator / study director / lab dependent.
  • Requirement of second-pass notch tests to verify identity with retention time confirmation.

EUROLAB Benefits of Using the Composite Scanning Database

EUROLABThere are several testing benefits to having a comprehensive composite screen database as a source, including:

  • Double confirmation (RT & MS (via 4 qualifier ions)): There is no debate about identity for "common compounds" and more "exotic" compounds.
  • Mass spectra chromatograms are easier to interpret and make high-quality definitions in "first pass" testing using standard analytical equipment.
  • It is easier to automate the identification process in the lab.
  • The identification is independent of the person (operator / working director) or laboratory
  • Interlab identification results easier to facilitate.
  • There is no need for spike experiments to verify identity.

Current state of Unique Compound Scan Database

  • Headspace GC / MS Screener DB:> 700 Compound
  • GC / MS Screener DB:> 1700 Composite
  • UPLC \ HRAM Screener DB:> 750 Compound (High Resolution True Mass; Exacitive Orbitrap Platform)

These include: solvent residues, polymer residues (e.g., monomers), glue/adhesive residues, polymer oligomers and degradation compounds, polymer additives and their degradation compounds, impurities in polymer additives, filter residues, plasticizers, pipe residues, commercially available extractable compounds, detected in various materials: (PE (LD, HD) grades, PP grades, rubbers (chlorobutyl, bromobutyl, EPDM, isoprene,…), PVC, multilayer films, COC, COP, PBT, polyacetal (POM), ABS, silicone, C-Flex, polycarbonate,… synthesized compounds related to the project, isolated degradation products.

EUROLAB Future developments of the Unique Composite Screening Database

Although the proprietary Compound Screening Database allows unique identification of over 3000 compounds, there are many extractable products for which identification in “first pass” testing is problematic. Because, EUROLAB In 2009, GC-ToF expanded its research program using UPLC-Orbitrap to further develop the Exclusive Patented Scanning Database.

EUROLAB, with its highly expert team and internationally accredited laboratories, Compound Scan Database It performs all test, analysis, measurement, evaluation and report generation services completely and reliably.
