Protective Difficulty Test

For more than 200 years, USP has built trust in the world's most important medicines, supplements and foods. With the overall quality standards developed, USP helps maintain patient safety and improve people's health.

Protective Difficulty Test

USP develops both documentary standards and reference standards. These standards help evaluate the quality, potency, identity and purity of chemical drugs, biologics, food chemicals and ingredients, nutritional supplements.

USP Part 51 is the shielding difficulty test standard and is the most common method used to measure shielding effectiveness. It is used to evaluate the effect of preservatives in cosmetics, personal care products and pharmaceutical products. Preservatives are antimicrobial ingredients added to aqueous product formulations to ensure product safety by inhibiting growth and reducing the amount of microbial contaminants.

USP Part 51 tests use five types of microorganisms. Three of them are bacteria and two are fungi. Each of these microorganisms are known strains of pathogenic microorganisms and represent a wide variety of microbial physiologies.

Before the USP Part 51 test method is initiated, the product must be evaluated after manufacture against the USP Part 61 Microbial numbering test standard for the presence of pathogens.

Briefly, preservative effectiveness tests are performed to determine the type and minimum effective concentration of the preservative required for the effective protection of pharmaceutical products, food and biotechnology products.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also protective difficulty testing services.
