US Pharmacopeia (USP) is a non-profit organization that aims to help improve human health worldwide by setting standards that ensure "the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines and foods." Additionally, the USP publishes drug product and ingredient information annually and changes it regularly.

Pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical products subject to USP standards include medical products for both humans and animals. The USP sets standards for dietary supplements and food ingredients. The USP has no role in enforcing its standards. It is the responsibility of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other US government officials.
The standards established by the USP are used by regulators and product manufacturers to ensure products are of the highest quality, strength and consistency. The USP has published standardization in many products, such as pharmaceuticals, antimicrobial drugs, food ingredients, supplements, to strengthen quality medicine and improve public health.
Our testing to USP standards ensures that our customers comply with regulations for pharmaceutical products and medical devices.
USP currently offers more than 3.500 reference standards, highly characterized pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, food ingredients, impurities, degradation products, dietary supplements, complementary reagents, and performance calibrators.
The USP Reference Standards are specified for use in conducting official USP–NF tests and assays. USP also provides authentic substances (high quality chemical samples) as a service to analytical, clinical, pharmaceutical and research laboratories, as well as reference standards specified in the Food Chemicals Codex.
