The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Application Act of 25249.6 published in California Health and Safety Code Section 1986 is called California Proposition 65 or CP65 for short. Its main message is: "No one knowingly and deliberately warns an individual prior to a person known to be carcinogenic or toxic to reproduction by the [California] State during their work.
It is affected by some 900 chemical regulations, and for some there are limit values below for which no consumer notice is required. Stricter requirements have been in place since 30 August 2018, including the requirement that warnings specifically need to name at least one substance.
