Turbidity Determination (SM 2130 B Method)

Turbidity Determination (SM 2130 B Method)

Within the scope of the National Environmental Methods Index (NEMI), the SM 2130 B method, which includes a test method for the determination of turbidity, has been developed.

Turbidity Determination (SM 2130 B Method)

The clarity of water is important during the production of various products for human consumption and in many production processes. Beverage manufacturers, food processors, and potable water treatment plants using a surface water source often rely on liquid-particle separation processes such as settling and filtration to improve clarity and provide an acceptable product. The clarity of a natural body of water is an important determinant of its condition and productivity.

Water turbidity is caused by suspended particles such as clay, silt, finely divided organic and inorganic matter, plankton, and other microscopic organisms. Turbidity is an optical property that causes light to scatter and be absorbed by the water sample instead of being transmitted without any change in direction or flux level. Correlating turbidity with the weight or particle number concentration of the suspended matter is difficult, as the size, shape, and refractive index of the particles affect the light scattering properties of the suspension.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests performed in this context, there are also turbidity determination (SM 2130 B method) services.
