Census of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (ISO 16266)

The ISO 16266 standard, published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), includes a test method for the isolation and enumeration of pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria in bottled water samples using a membrane filtration technique. This method can also be applied to other water types with low flora, such as pool waters and waters intended for human consumption.

In our country, this standard has also been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the title: TS EN ISO 16266 Water quality - Determination and enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa - Membrane filtration method.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic human pathogen that reproduces in water at very low nutrient concentrations. At source and during marketing, a natural mineral water or spring water must be free of this bacteria in any 250 ml sample examined.

All types of water, including pool water and water for human consumption, are tested for Pseudomonas aeruginosa for public health reasons. Generally, 100 ml volumes are examined in these tests, and these tests must be performed by trained personnel.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Pseudomonas aeruginosa enumeration (ISO 16266) services are among the numerous tests performed in this context.
