Counting Fecal Enterococci (TS EN ISO 7899-2)

Counting Fecal Enterococci (TS EN ISO 7899-2)

The ISO 7899-2 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO) includes a test method for the detection and enumeration of intestinal enterococci in water by membrane filtration. This method is specifically designed for the examination of drinking water, swimming pool water and other disinfected or clean water. However, the method is applicable to all types of water, except where a large amount of suspended matter or a large number of interfering microorganisms are present. It is particularly suitable for examining large volumes of water containing only a few intestinal enterococci.

Counting Fecal Enterococci (TS EN ISO 7899-2)

In our country, this standard has been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 7899-2 Water quality - Detection and counting of intestinal enterococci - Part 2: Membrane filtration method.

The ISO 7899-2 standard describes a test method for the isolation of intestinal enterococci. The main fecal enterococci counted using this method are: Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Enterococcus durans, and Enterococcus hirae. Other enterococci and streptococci are also sometimes detected.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests performed in this context, there are also fecal enterococci counting services (TS EN ISO 7899-2).
