In the ISO 9297 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), a test method for the determination of chloride in groundwater, surface water and drinking water is presented. The method described applies to the direct determination of dissolved chloride at concentrations between 5 mg/l and 150 mg/l. The working range can be extended up to 400 mg/l by using a larger capacity glass burette or by diluting the sample. Due to the many interferences, the method is not applicable for heavily polluted waters with low chloride content.

Almost all natural waters, as well as rain water and many wastewater, contain chloride ions. Concentrations vary widely, from a few milligrams per liter in some natural waters to very high concentrations in polluted wastewater, seawater and salty groundwater.
Normal concentrations of common components of groundwater, surface water and drinking water do not affect the test.
This standard has also been published in our country with the following title: TS 4164 ISO 9297 Water quality - Chloride determination - Titration with silver nitrate as well as chromate indicator (Mohr method).
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests performed in this context, there are also chloride determination (TS 4164 ISO 9297) services.
