Escherichia Coli and Coliform Bacteria Count (TS EN ISO 9308-1)

Escherichia Coli and Coliform Bacteria Count (TS EN ISO 9308-1)

The ISO 9308-1 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO) includes a method for enumerating escherichia coli and coliform bacteria. This method is based on membrane filtration, subsequent culture on a chromogenic coliform agar medium, and calculation of the number of target organisms in the sample. Due to the low selectivity of the differential agar medium, background growth may interfere with reliable enumeration of escherichia coli and coliform bacteria, for example in surface waters or shallow well waters. This method is not suitable for such waters.

In our country, this standard has also been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the title : TS EN ISO 9308 -1 Water quality - Counting of Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria - Part 1: Membrane filtration method for waters with low bacterial background flora.

This standard is particularly suitable for waters with low bacterial counts that cause a total of less than 100 colonies on chromogenic coliform agar. These can be drinking water, disinfected pool water or finished water from drinking water treatment plants.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are escherichia coli and coliform bacteria counting (TS EN ISO 9308-1) services.
