Determination of Free Chlorine and Total Chlorine (TS 5489 EN ISO 7393)

Determination of Free Chlorine and Total Chlorine (TS 5489 EN ISO 7393)

The ISO 7393 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO) includes test methods for the determination of free and total chlorine in water. Seawater and waters containing bromide and iodide form a group for which special procedures are required. This test method applies to total chlorine concentrations of 0,0004-0,07 mmol/l for chlorine and higher concentrations by dilution of the samples. For concentrations above 0,07 mmol/l, the ISO 7393-3 standard is recommended.

Determination of Free Chlorine and Total Chlorine (TS 5489 EN ISO 7393)

In our country, this standard has also been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following titles:

  • TS 5489 EN ISO 7393-1 Water quality - Determination of free chlorine and total chlorine - Part 1: Titrimetric method alongside N,n-phyethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine
  • TS EN ISO 7393-2 Water quality - Determination of free chlorine and total chlorine - Part 2: Colorimetric method using N, N- Dialkyl-1,4- Phenylenediamine for routine controls
  • Water quality - Determination of free chlorine and total chlorine - Part 6230: Iodometric titration method for determination of total chlorine TS 7393 EN ISO 3-3

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Free chlorine and total chlorine determination (TS 5489 EN ISO 7393) services are among the numerous tests carried out in this context.
