The ISO 6222 standard, published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), includes a test method for the enumeration of culturable microorganisms in water by counting colonies formed on a nutrient agar culture medium after aerobic incubation at 36 degrees and 22 degrees. This method is designed to measure the operational efficiency of the treatment process of public drinking water sources and for general application to all water types. This standard is specifically applied for the examination of water intended for human consumption, including water in closed containers and natural mineral waters.

In our country, this standard has been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 6222 Water quality - Counting of cultured microorganisms - Colony counting by inoculation on agar medium.
All types of water generally contain a variety of microorganisms derived from various sources such as soil and vegetation . Determining their overall numbers is useful for assessing and monitoring water quality. Colony counts are also helpful for evaluating the integrity of groundwater resources and the efficiency of water treatment processes such as filtration and disinfection.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Colony counting (TS EN ISO 6222) services are among the numerous tests carried out in this context.
