Determination of Hypochlorite

Determination of Hypochlorite

Hypochlorites are the most widely used of the chlorine disinfectants and are available in liquid form, such as sodium hypochlorite, or in solid form, such as calcium hypochlorite. Generally, the most common chlorine products are aqueous solutions of 5-6 percent sodium hypochlorite, called household bleach. They have a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, that is, they have bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, mycobactericidal, sporicidal action. They remove dried or fixed organisms and biofilms from surfaces and have a low incidence of serious toxicity.

Determination of Hypochlorite

Hypochlorites are widely used in a variety of settings in healthcare facilities. Inorganic chlorine solution is used for disinfection of equipment and disinfection of non-critical surfaces.

Sodium hypochlorite is a solution formed by the reaction of chlorine with a sodium hydroxide solution. Sodium hypochlorite, commonly referred to as bleach, has a variety of uses and is an excellent disinfectant/antimicrobial agent. Sodium hypochlorite is a compound that is effectively used for water purification. It is widely used for surface cleaning, bleaching, deodorization and water disinfection. Sodium hypochlorite was first used in the late 1700s and soon became a popular compound due to its specific properties. Hypochlorite can remove stains from clothes at room temperature.

Chloroform is well absorbed and metabolized by mammals after oral, inhalation, or dermal exposure, and is distributed throughout the organism, including via the bloodstream, fat tissues, and the brain. Chloroform is primarily metabolized in the liver, and its main metabolite is carbon dioxide. In animals and humans, inhalation accounts for 80%, dermal intake for 10%, oral intake for 100%, and absorption for 100%.

Chloroform is also used as an industrial solvent and as an intermediate in the production of polymeric materials. Today, the main use of chloroform is in the production of R22 refrigerant, which is widely used in air conditioning. R22 gas has a wide range of applications, particularly in residential air conditioning and refrigeration. However, R22 gas is ozone-depleting and contributes to global warming. Therefore, it is gradually being phased out.

Our organization also provides testing services for the determination of hypochlorite, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
