Due to their high toxicity, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead and mercury are among the priority metals in terms of public health. These metallic elements are systemic toxicants known to cause multiple organ damage even at lower exposure levels.
In advanced laboratories, heavy metal tests are carried out in accordance with the Turkish Food Codex regulations on food contact materials and the Turkish Food Codex communiqué on plastic food contact materials and articles (communiqué no: 2019/44), published by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
