1,4-dioxane is a clear, chemical liquid that dissolves easily in water. It is primarily used as a solvent in the manufacture of chemicals and as a laboratory reagent. It also has other uses that make use of its solvent properties. 1,4-dioxane is a trace contaminant of some chemicals used in cosmetics, detergents and shampoos. It is not used as an ingredient in cosmetics, but can be found in very small amounts in some cosmetics. 1,4-dioxane is formed as a byproduct in the manufacturing process of some cosmetic ingredients. However, manufacturers now greatly reduce the levels of these chemicals before they are made into household products.

Dioxane is a clear and colorless liquid with a slight ethereal odour. It is slightly denser than water and soluble in water. Its vapor is heavier than air. 1,4-dioxane is a dioxane with oxygen atoms at positions 1 and 4. It is among the volatile organic compounds.
1,4-dioxane is a potential human carcinogen. Data from studies on laboratory animals indicate that this compound is carcinogenic. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to monitor information about 1,4-dioxane and its levels in cosmetics. The FDA does not yet see a danger associated with exposure to 1,4-dioxane as a contaminant in cosmetic products. In general, 1,4-dioxane levels below 10 ppm in cosmetic products are considered safe.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also services for the determination of 1,4 dioxane.
