The ISO 4406 standard, designed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), provides a test method for determining solid particles in a fluid used in hydraulic fluid power systems.
This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS ISO 4406 Hydraulic fluid power - Liquids - Method of coding the pollution level of solid particles.
The standard in question is a standard applied worldwide as a way to convey the cleanliness of a hydraulic fluid. Many hydraulic component manufacturers have particle count (oil contamination) tests performed to ensure correct operation and a long and trouble-free service life.
Another standard in this regard is the SAE Aerospace Standard, AS 4059 (SAE AS 4059 Aerospace fluid power - Cleanliness classification for hydraulic fluids). This standard defines cleanliness classes for particulate contamination of hydraulic fluids and includes methods for reporting relevant data.
The pollution classes selected are an extension of the widely accepted National Aviation Standard NAS 1638 cleanliness classes. NAS 1638 cleanliness classes are compared with AS 4059 classes and the differences are explained.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests performed in this context, there are also hydraulic fluid power determination (ISO 4406 / NAS 1638) services.
