The SAE AS4116 standard, developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), defines test requirements to determine that bus monitors meet the digital time division command/response multiplexed bus requirements of the MIL-STD-1553B standard.
This standard contains a general test plan for the verification or production testing of any bus monitor designed to meet the requirements of the MIL-STD-1553B standard. These requirements apply to the bus monitor under test when called in a specification in a statement of operation.
The primary purpose of the test plan described in this standard is to test the MIL-STD-1553 standard requirements for the bus implemented in hardware, software, or firmware. However, some additional software may be required and expected to meet this purpose. Therefore, this software may be operational software, custom test software, or a combination of these.
The tests described here can be performed in any order, in combination with each other, or in conjunction with other tests of the subsystem in which the bus monitor may be embedded.
The SAE AS4116 standard concerns only the bus monitoring functions described in the MIL-STD-1553 standard. This standard does not specify tests that check the integrity of data going from the subsystem to the bus and does not attempt to address system testing requirements.
For tests specified for use in production testing of a bus chip, module, or function within a piece of equipment, all measurements are intended to be made via external connections or test points. No forced access to other points is intended.
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) strives to develop mobility technology to serve humanity. SAE standards cover parts, equipment and systems. It is used by engineers, manufacturers, academicians, research and development teams, quality assurance, quality control and test officers during the design, production, maintenance, repair and operation of motor vehicles used on land, sea, air and space.
Our organization seeks numerous tests, measurements, analysis and evaluation studies for businesses in various industries. In addition, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, it also provides test services for digital time division command/response multiplex bus bus monitors within the scope of SAE AS4116 standard.
