Testing and analysis of sewage sludge originating from wastewater treatment plants is important both for the protection of nature and for obtaining maximum benefit from this sludge.

The EN 12879 standard, a European standard, describes a test method for determining the ignition loss of dry mass in sewage sludge.
During the implementation of this standard, dry residues must first be determined according to the EN 12880 standard. Afterwards, the method described in this standard is applied in order to determine the ignition loss of dry sludge and mud products at 550 degrees.
It should be noted that during testing, inorganic substances or decomposition products (e.g., water, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, oxygen) are released or absorbed, and some inorganic substances are volatile under reaction conditions. Essentially , loss on ignition analyses are performed to determine the mass loss that occurs at high temperatures due to the depletion of volatile substances such as hydrates or carbonates within minerals.
This standard has also been published by TSE in our country with the following title: TS EN 12879 Properties of sludge - Determination of the glow loss of dry mass.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also services for the determination of the heating loss of the dry mass of sewage sludge (TS EN 12879).
