Flue Gas Fixed Source Emissions - Manual Determination of Mass Concentration of Particulate Matter (20-1000 mg-m3) (TS ISO 9096)

The ISO 9096 standard designed by the International Standards Organization (ISO) describes a reference method for measuring the concentration of particulate matter (dust) in waste gases at concentrations of 20 mg/m3 to 1000 mg/m3 under standard conditions.

The aforementioned standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS ISO 9096 Fixed source emissions - Manual determination of the mass concentration of particulate matter.

The ISO 9096 standard applies to the calibration of automatic monitoring systems. If the emission gas contains unstable, reactive or semi-volatile substances, the measurement will depend on the filtration temperature. For the calibration of automated monitoring systems, in-stack methods may be more applicable than out-of-stack methods.

In the last update of the standard, some conditions were added for the measurements to be valid. For example, dust sampling should be done to the filter in an amount five times the sample value taken in the field. The mouthpiece used in sampling must have been produced within certain rules. The sampling device should be designed in such a way that there is no leakage. Dust that the filter cannot hold should be washed and recycled.
