The EPA 3630 C method, developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is designed to provide guidance for standard column cleaning and cleaning procedures for sample extracts using solid-phase extraction cartridges. The full name of this test method is: SW-846 test method 3630C Silica gel cleaning.

This test method describes an optional silica gel column cleaning procedure that can be used under conditions suitable for extractable petroleum hydrocarbons in solids and water by gas chromatography.
Silica gel cleaning may not be completely selective to the removal of only biogenic organics and can remove non-biogenic organics if they are sufficiently polar. The most common refined petroleum hydrocarbon environmental pollutants such as diesel or engine oil are fully recovered by this procedure.
Examples of biogenic organics include lipids, vegetable oils, tannins, wood extracts, animal fats, proteins, humic acids, fatty acids and resin acids.
Silica gel cleaning should be used with caution except when biogenic interference is suspected. Non-polar or slightly polar biogenic components are not removed with silica gel.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests performed in this context are silica gel cleaning (EPA 3630 C method) services.
