Determination of Flue Gas Nitrogen Monoxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Nitrous Oxide (NOx) Emissions (EPA CTM 022 Method)

Determination of Flue Gas Nitrogen Monoxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Nitrous Oxide (NOx) Emissions (EPA CTM 022 Method)

The EPA CTM 022 method developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) describes a conditional test method for emission measurement know-how: EPA Method CTM 022 Determination of nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide and NOX emissions from stationary combustion sources by electrochemical analyzer.

Determination of Flue Gas Nitrogen Monoxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Nitrous Oxide (NOx) Emissions (EPA CTM 022 Method)

This test method is applied to determine the concentrations of nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and their total (NOx) in controlled and uncontrolled emissions from combustion sources such as boilers, heaters, engines and turbines. Because of the cross-sensitivities inherent in electrochemical cells, this method should not be applied to other emission sources or pollutants without first performing both a full investigation of potential analytical interventions and source-specific benchmarking with other EPA methods.

A gas sample is continuously removed from a stack while testing is performed, and a portion of the sample is sent to an instrumental electrochemical analyzer for determination of NO, NO2 and NOx concentrations. Acceptable electrochemical sensor performance depends on reaction and capacitance and requires selecting a sensor with the correct sensitivity range.

In the testing, analysis, measurement, and evaluation studies conducted at our organization, national and international standards and current legal regulations are adhered to, and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on state-of-the-art technological equipment, a trained and experienced staff, and modern methods. Among the numerous tests conducted within this scope are the determination of flue gas nitrogen monoxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions (EPA CTM 022 method).
