EN 840-2 Mobile Waste and Recycling Containers - Part 2: Flat Lid 1.300-Wheel Containers with Capacity Up to 4 L for Trunnion and/or Card Lifters - Dimensions and Design

EN 840-2 Mobile Waste and Recycling Containers - Part 2: Flat Lid 1.300-Wheel Containers with Capacity Up to 4 L for Trunnion and/or Card Lifters - Dimensions and Design

The EN 840-2 standard, a European standard, describes the dimensions and design requirements of 1300-wheel mobile waste containers with flat lids and capacities up to 4 L for use with trunnion and/or dredge lifting device.

EN 840-2 Mobile Waste and Recycling Containers - Part 2: Flat Lid 1.300-Wheel Containers with Capacity Up to 4 L for Trunnion and/or Card Lifters - Dimensions and Design

For the purposes of this standard, the term mobile waste and recycling container refers to suitably designed containers equipped with wheels designed to temporarily store waste. The hoist is the structure that receives, tilts and unloads containers. The comb lifting device is the lifting device in which the collection system consists of a row of teeth and a locking system to hold the container during emptying. The trunnion lifting device is a lifting device in which the collection system consists of a double lever with an automatic locking mechanism to fit the trunnion to hold the container during unloading. Volume refers to the total area inside the container when the lid is closed, nominal volume refers to the capacity volume specified by the manufacturer. The nominal mass is the calculated mass as given in the standard, the total allowable mass is the mass of the container plus the nominal mass. The functional and safety dimension refers to the basic dimensions that ensure the functionality and interchangeability of the container with the compatible lifting device and are necessary for the safety and health of the operator.

This standard defines two classes of containers:

  • Class I Small size (nominal volume up to 1.000 L)
  • Class II Large size (nominal volume from 300 L to 1.000 L)

The following volumes are defined within these two container classes: 500 L, 660 L, 770 L, 1.000 L, 1.100 L and 1.200 L.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, is able to use mobile waste and recycling containers for trunnion and/or comb lifting devices within the scope of EN 840-2 standard. It also provides testing services for the dimensions and design of flat lid 1.300-wheel containers with a capacity of up to 4 L.
