TS EN IEC 60601-2-46 Electrical Medical Equipment - Part 2-46: Specific Features for Basic Safety and Required Performance of Operating Tables

The EN IEC 60601-2-46 standard, developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), an affiliate of the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the features and test methods for the safety and performance of operating tables, which are electrical medical equipment. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN IEC 60601-2-46 Electrical medical equipment - Part 2-46: Specific features for the basic safety and required performance of operating tables.

TS EN IEC 60601-2-46 Electrical Medical Equipment - Part 2-46: Specific Features for Basic Safety and Required Performance of Operating Tables

This standard specifies safety requirements for operating tables with removable top operating tables. It is not checked whether this type of operating table has electrical parts, including the carriers used to transport it. However, the following types of equipment are not covered by this standard: dental chairs, examination chairs and sofas, patient-supporting diagnostic and treatment equipment, workbench heating blankets, patient transfer equipment, delivery tables and beds, and medical beds. If work tables are to be used in conjunction with diagnostic or therapeutic equipment, the relevant requirements of the relevant standard must be applied.

An operating table is the table on which a patient lies during surgical procedures. These tables can be stationary or mobile to move the patient around the operating room. Operating tables are used for various purposes, including cardiothoracic, orthopedic, bariatric, robotic, urological, and more. The use of operating tables depends on their design and features. Some are designed for a wide variety of operations, while others are specifically designed for orthopedic procedures. The purpose of the surgical table is to keep the patient in place while the surgical team works, and various parts of the body are moved using table accessories to facilitate easy access to the surgical area.

Within the scope of laboratory services, our organization also provides safety and performance testing services of operating tables, which are EN IEC 60601-2-46 electrical medical equipment.
