In the ISO 8836 standard developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), certain requirements and test methods for the safety and performance of suction catheters used in the respiratory tract are described. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 8836 Suction catheters used in the respiratory tract.

This standard describes the dimensions and requirements for both open and closed suction catheters made of flexible materials and intended for use in the suction of the respiratory tract. Suction catheters intended for use with flammable anesthetic gases or substances, lasers or electrosurgical equipment are not covered by this standard.
Suction catheters are medical equipment used to expel body secretions from the upper airway. One end of the catheter is connected to an aspirator or collection container, and the other end is placed directly into the trachea to remove secretions.
The normative references in the implementation of this standard and indispensable for its implementation are the following:
Note: This standard has replaced the abolished TS EN 1733 standard.
Safety and performance testing services of suction catheters used in ISO 8836 respiratory tract are also provided by our organization within the scope of laboratory services.
