The EN ISO 18777 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the properties and test methods for the safety and performance of liquid oxygen systems, which are portable breathing equipment. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 18777 Portable liquid oxygen systems for medical use - Certain features.

The standard in question describes the requirements for the safety and performance of portable liquid oxygen systems used as a supply source for oxygen therapy. This equipment generally consists of a portable unit carried with the patient during use and a container used to fill this unit. These devices are mostly used in home care applications and healthcare facilities and are often used without professional supervision. However, liquid oxygen containers used as a supply source for oxygen pipeline systems are not covered by this standard.
Meanwhile, the planning and design of equipment that conforms to this international standard can have environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle. Environmental issues are addressed in the standard appendix. Other aspects of environmental impact are addressed in the ISO 14971 standard (TS EN ISO 14971 Medical devices - Application of risk management to medical devices).
The standards that are referred to as normative in the application of this standard and indispensable for its implementation are: EN 980, EN 1041, EN 1251-1, EN 1251-2, EN 1251-3, ISO 4135, ISO 15001, ISO 18779, EN 13544-2, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60529 and IEC 60079-4.
Our organization also provides safety and performance testing services for liquid oxygen systems, which are portable breathing equipment, in accordance with EN ISO 18777 standard, within the scope of laboratory services.
