The EN ISO 23907-1 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the characteristics and test methods for the safety and performance of disposable cutter containers. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 23907-1 Protection from cutting injuries - Requirements and test methods - Part 1: Disposable cutter containers.
The standard specifies requirements for sharpening medical waste that is considered potentially dangerous and for scalpel blades, trocars, hypodermic needles and syringes with or without sharpening protection properties.
This standard also includes the disposable sharp cutter containers provided by the manufacturer in full and the equipment provided as components intended to be assembled by the user. However, reusable pointed containers or outer containers used for carrying filled disposable pointed containers are not covered by this standard.
The mentioned standard includes design functionality for user safety, lifecycle simulation, cleaning and disinfection, microbiological verification, quality monitoring and performance testing.
The test methods presented for disposable cutter containers in the EN ISO 23907-1 standard are: container stability test, strength test of handles, penetration resistance test, post drop damage and leakage resistance test and tipping resistance test.
